Latest news, video Wednesday, August 17th, 2011A Minot-assigned B-52 bomber lifted off carrying 6 AGM-129 ACM nuclear warheads during a cross-country flight to Barksdale AFB, Louisiana on August 30th, 2007. When it arrived at Barksdale AFB it had only 5 warheads still attached to the underside of the B-52 bomber’s wings. The yield of just 1 AGM-129 ACM is between 5 and 150 kiloton.
“Little Boy” was the codename of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 by the Boeing B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay, piloted by Colonel Paul Tibbets of the 393rd Bombardment Squadron, Heavy, of the United States Army Air Forces. It was the first atomic bomb to be used as a weapon. The second, the “Fat Man”, was dropped three days later on Nagasaki. The Blast yield of “little Boy” was 13–18 kt. The still missing AGM-129 ACM can be made into as many as 10 Little Boy nuclear bombs.
